A locust. Not just any locust, but one that is about as big around as my finger - you can see for yourself. Now, maybe you've seen one bigger, but I haven't.

And, today, we have video of said locust (say ooooooohh!)

When you have lived in the Ozarks as many years as I have, you will know that this is not a locust but a cicada. Webster's dictionary says "a cicada is a large, flylike homopterian insect with transparent wings: the male makes a loud, shrill sound by vibrating a special organ on its undersurface." It is the sound you hear at night that is sometimes very, very loud, especially when you are trying to sleep.
